Turkmen Wedding Crown

Of the many ceremonies observed in Turkmen culture, the most important is the wedding. This beautiful antique headdress is a superb example of Turkmen craftsmanship. The crown is studded with delicate semi-precious stone inlay. Turquoise for honesty and sensitivity in matters of the heart and Lapis Lazuli for clarity and protection. Two hand woven and beaded “earring” tassels adorn either side. A long decorative train cascades from the back with silver bells and beads interwoven amongst vibrantly colored embroidery.
